Photographic Styles on iPhone: what they do
By Con, founder of Music Wide Selfie · Updated 22 October 2026
Short answerPhotographic Styles, on iPhone 13 and later, apply a consistent look, such as warmer or more contrasty, while protecting skin tones better than a simple filter. On newer models you can adjust them after taking the photo.
Styles vs filters
Filters change the whole image the same way. Styles are applied more selectively, aiming to keep skin tones natural.
Set one
Settings › Camera › Photographic Styles, or from the Camera app controls on supported models.
Change after
On newer iPhones and iOS versions, you can change or remove the style after taking the photo.
Questions
Do styles affect video?
