Selfie angles: which one suits your face
By Con, founder of Music Wide Selfie · Updated 22 October 2026
Short answerHold the phone a little above eye level, tilt your chin slightly forward and down, turn your face a few degrees to one side, and keep the phone at arm’s length or further. Try both sides; most people prefer one.
Height
Slightly above eye level is the classic flattering angle. Below the chin rarely works.
Distance
The closer the lens, the more it enlarges what’s nearest. Arm’s length, or a stand, is more natural than very close.
Turn
A slight turn adds shape. Take a few on each side to find your preferred side.
Chin
Push your chin slightly forward and down to define your jaw.
Questions
Why does my face look wide in selfies?
Front cameras are wide and close. More distance helps.
